inhale, exhale.

This week = uneventful {for the most part}
 Still waiting on a call so I can start the new job, but in all this time of nothingness, I've tried to be somewhat productive and do things I never find time for otherwise. Like reading the pile of books on my night table that aren't reading themselves.
Enter yoga.
I've read about it, talked about it, and broke a sweat doing it this week. We're still in the beginning stages where I'm trying to decide if I really like it or not and want to continue having it entertain my time. If you are like me, and don't exactly understand how it helps you lose weight, I can recommend a dvd, because wow. I was worn out and panting half way through.

While reading about key terms used in yoga, I felt like I was back in my first semester of grad school talking about anatomy and breathing patterns. That part, I find fascinating. Just by the way you inhale and exhale you can decrease stress and get some good energy stirring. As I was reading all this,  I came across "duhka" and "suhka" and was like, 'hey, that sounds familiar'.
 That's because there is a yoga studio near my apartment whose name, I now know, translates to "suffering". Thanks, but I don't necessarily want to spend a Saturday morning at a literal place of suffering when I can still be in bed ...with coffee... and cable. But for real, I look forward to getting more into it, just maybe at a place that doesn't give it all away up front.

  1. I've been doing yoga on and off for years. I've tried lots of other forms of exercise/stress relief (current obsession: running) but I always come back to the old standby. Nothing gives you more bang for the buck.

    P.S. After that second-to-last paragraph, all I can think is, I'm Gonna Git You, SUKHAAAAAA

  2. Haha. I completely suck at running, so yoga it is until something else comes along that allows me to simultaneously breathe while doing it.
